Severe Floods in Saudi Arabia, High Red Alert Issued

Heavy rains in Saudi Arabia have caused severe flooding in various cities across the country. It is expected that the situation will persist for several more days.

On Wednesday, January 8, Turkish state news agency Anadolu Agency reported the news.

On Tuesday, January 7, the local weather office issued various levels of alerts across the country. High red alerts have been declared in western Saudi Arabia’s holy cities of Mecca and Medina, as well as in several areas in the eastern region.

According to the report, orange alerts have been issued for the capital Riyadh, central Saudi Arabia, and the southwestern provinces of Asir and Jazan. Authorities have urged the public to remain cautious during the rains.

The Saudi Red Crescent and other rescue authorities have intensified their preparedness in response to heavy rainfall warnings.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, the Red Crescent has ensured full operational readiness for its rescue teams to provide uninterrupted ambulance services and quick response interventions.

Saudi authorities have advised citizens to exercise caution and follow safety guidelines.

The Civil Defense Service has also urged people to avoid valleys, low-lying areas, and regions where rainwater might accumulate.
