Golden Globes Viewership Soars with 10.1 Million Viewers

The 2024 Golden Globe Awards saw a significant surge in viewership, with the ceremony attracting 10.1 million viewers, marking a 7% increase from the previous year. Hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser, the star-studded event was broadcast live on CBS, drawing attention despite stiff competition from the NFL’s final Sunday Night Football game of the season.

CBS reported a strong performance across both traditional television and digital platforms, with live streams on the CBS app and Paramount+ rising by 9% compared to last year’s event. This marks a promising start for the Golden Globes, which are in the midst of a five-year contract with CBS after departing from NBC.

In comparison, Nielsen’s figures show that the 2024 ceremony had an average of 9.47 million viewers, a substantial 51% jump from 2023’s 6.25 million. The Globes aired after CBS’ late afternoon NFL game, which also helped boost its ratings.

The success of the Golden Globes is particularly notable given the massive viewership for the NFL game, which drew 28.5 million viewers—its highest for a season finale since 2012. Despite this tough competition, the Golden Globes’ rise in viewership signals a positive future for the awards show in its new home at CBS.
