Ex-Army Veteran Shamsud-Din Jabbar Identified as Perpetrator of ISIS-Inspired New Orleans Attack.

Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old decorated US-born Army veteran, was responsible for a fatal truck attack in New Orleans. In an email written to his former wife’s lawyer, Jabbar mentioned that he had racked up more than $16,000 in credit card debt, The New York Post reported. Jabbar went to Georgia State University from 2015 to 2017, graduating with a BBA in computer information systems. He did not have any criminal records, except that he was charged with two minor crimes in 2002 and 2005. What he did have was a decorated military career, leaving the service at the rank of staff sergeant.
He served in the Army as human resource and information technology specialist from March 2007 to January 2015.Later, he also served in the Army reserves as an IT specialist till July 2020. For a year, between February 2009 to January 2010, he was deployed to Afghanistan. Not much is known about Jabbar between the years 2020-2024 except that he worked in real estate. NBC News reported that his real estate licence expired in 2023. The real estate business suffered more than $28,000 in losses. Jabbar lived in a squalid trailer park in a region where the majority are Muslim immigrants. His backyard had geese, chickens, and sheep.
