Explosion in Syrian Arms Depot Kills 11 at Military Base

An explosion at an arms depot near Syria’s capital, Damascus, has killed 11 people. The incident occurred on Sunday, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The explosion took place in the commercial area of Adra, located 30 kilometers (20 miles) from Damascus.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated that the explosion might have been caused by an Israeli attack. However, a source in the Israeli military told AFP that their forces did not conduct any airstrikes in the area.

A Syrian official, speaking anonymously, said the explosion from an unknown source shook the Adra commercial area. However, he did not specify the exact number of casualties. Rescue operations are reportedly still ongoing.

Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, mentioned that the explosion in the arms depot was likely caused by an Israeli attack, resulting in at least 11 deaths.

On the other hand, the Israeli military claimed they were unaware of any operations in that area. Abdel Rahman stated that most of the victims of the explosion were civilians.
