Rebecca Ferguson Rejects The Greatest Showman Sequel Idea

Rebecca Ferguson has expressed a firm lack of interest in a sequel to The Greatest Showman, despite the film’s massive success and ongoing fan enthusiasm. In an interview with Collider, Ferguson humorously shot down the idea of a follow-up, saying, “No! Stop that. Come on!”

She added that sometimes stories should be left as they are, and mentioned that she felt her character, Jenny Lind, was somewhat “cast aside” in the first film. In a joking tone, she even suggested she might return as a juggler instead.

While a sequel had reportedly been greenlit in 2019, Hugh Jackman, who starred as PT Barnum, made it clear in 2022 that there were no current plans for one. Though he has expressed openness to the idea, he pointed out that the first film took eight years to make and a sequel might take a similarly long time. Jackman reiterated his love for the movie, leaving the door slightly open but no concrete plans in place. Meanwhile, Zac Efron has previously voiced his hopes for a follow-up, though nothing official has emerged.

In short, despite occasional hints from the cast and previous reports of a sequel being in development, Ferguson’s comments suggest that a continuation of the story may not be in the cards, at least from her perspective.
