97th Oscars Shortlists Announced Across 10 Categories

Los Angeles, CA – The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has unveiled the official shortlists for the 97th Academy Awards® in 10 categories. These categories include Documentary Feature Film, Documentary Short Film, International Feature Film, Makeup and Hairstyling, Music (Original Score), Music (Original Song), Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film, Sound, and Visual Effects.

Documentary Feature Film
A total of 15 films have advanced in the Documentary Feature Film category. After a thorough voting process by members of the Documentary Branch, the following films have made the shortlist (listed alphabetically by title):

Voting and Key Dates
Nominations voting for the 97th Academy Awards will begin on January 8, 2025, and conclude on January 12, 2025. The official nominations will be announced on January 17, 2025. The 97th Academy Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at the Dolby® Theatre in Ovation Hollywood and will be broadcast live on ABC, streamed on Hulu, and aired in over 200 territories worldwide.
