Denzel Washington Apologizes for Black Panther 3 Role

Denzel Washington accidentally revealed his potential role in Black Panther 3, which he wasn’t supposed to mention. He later called director Ryan Coogler to apologize for the slip-up.

In a recent interview on the Variety Awards Circuit podcast, Washington shared that he FaceTimed Coogler to say sorry, and Coogler reassured him, saying, “It’s all good.” At the time, Coogler was editing the film, and his wife was with him.

Washington also mentioned that he hasn’t received any updates about Black Panther 3, and it seems the plans for the film are still not fully concrete. He humorously commented on Coogler’s cryptic way of speaking, saying Coogler often says things like “You know what I’m saying?” and that he just wants Coogler to write the script so he can act in it.

Additionally, Washington discussed his other upcoming projects, including working with Steve McQueen on a film, his plans for Othello and King Lear, and his role in the adaptation of August Wilson’s play Joe Turner’s Come and Gone.

Washington also gave an update on his next film, Spike Lee’s reinterpretation of High and Low, though he hadn’t seen the final cut at the time of the interview. He mentioned that while his retirement is on the horizon, it’s not happening anytime soon.
