Squid Game Season 2 to be Even More Intense

The Netflix series Squid Game has received immense praise from audiences around the world. The gripping, high-stakes story is set to return with its highly anticipated second season, which will premiere on December 26. Fans are already eagerly awaiting its release.

Undoubtedly, the excitement around the series will grow even more following comments from actor Lee Jung-jae. He has stated that Squid Game season 2 will be much more thrilling than the first season, promising plenty of twists and jaw-dropping moments.

The actor spoke with PEOPLE on December 12 during a special premiere of the show in Los Angeles, saying, “The new games in this season will be even more exciting. I can assure you that you will be prepared to be shocked. There will be games within games. These will be psychological battles. There will be betrayals in the game of enemies and friendships. Relationships will leave viewers in awe. Many twists are coming, and no one will be able to predict what will happen next.”

Lee Jung-jae is overjoyed by the immense success of the first season and the love from fans. He added, “I know we have many fans who love us and are very excited about Squid Game. Working on this series, we have gone beyond Korea’s borders and become global. This brings me joy and motivates me to work even harder.”

Squid Game is Netflix’s most-watched series, enjoyed by 142 million viewers across 94 countries. The series is directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk.

The synopsis for the upcoming season reveals that the story will take place three years after the events of the first season. Player 456, now with a new resolve, returns to Korea after initially planning to go to America. Gi-hun enters a new, mysterious life-and-death game. A new round of games begins with new competitors, all vying for a 45.6 billion won prize.

In addition to Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-joon, and Gong Yoo will also return for season 2. Although most characters from the first season met tragic ends, Director Dong-hyuk has stated, “I will try to bring them back in season 2.”
