“I will never forget for sure”

Spider-Man’s Martin Starr to Appear in ’90s Thriller RemakeMartin Starr, known for his role in the Spider-Man franchise, is set to join the cast of the upcoming remake of the 1992 thriller The Hand That Rocks the Cradle. The original film, which starred Rebecca De Mornay as the vengeful Mrs. Mott, follows a widow whose husband’s sexual assault accusations and subsequent death lead her to pose as a nanny for a grieving family in order to exact revenge. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the remake will star Maika Monroe as the new nanny, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as the mother, and Raúl Castillo as the father. Starr will portray the family’s concerned neighbor who offers help to the mother.

Directed by Michelle Garza Cervera, the film is set to begin production in Los Angeles later this month.

Starr is best known for his role as Mr. Harrington in the Spider-Man series, starring alongside Tom Holland. Recently, he led the horror film There’s Something in the Barn, directed by Magnus Martens. The movie follows an American family who, upon inheriting a remote Scandinavian cabin, uncover a sinister presence of evil elves.

Monroe, a seasoned actor in the horror genre, is also starring in Longlegs opposite Nicolas Cage. She plays FBI agent Lee Harker, tasked with capturing the satanic serial killer Longlegs, played by Cage, after a decades-long murder spree.

Monroe spoke to Digital Spy about the unsettling moment she first encountered the movie’s titular character. “People often ask if it’s scary being on a horror movie set. No, of course, it is not at all, but I feel very lucky to have had this particular experience because – of course, there were nerves – there was a visceral reaction that I had to seeing him for the first time,” she shared. “It was quite cool that we got to capture that on camera. It was an experience I will never forget for sure.”
