“Tarantino, Waters Defend Joker: Folie à Deux”

Quentin Tarantino defended the movie Joker: Folie à Deux earlier this year, even though critics didn’t like it. Now, another famous filmmaker, John Waters, has called it one of the best movies of 2024. Waters, known for movies like Hairspray, put the Joker sequel at number six on his annual top 10 movies list.

Waters described the film as “so insane, so well thought out, so well directed.” He also praised Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix, calling it a love story he could relate to.

Some people agree with Waters, like Quentin Tarantino, who said Phoenix gave one of the best performances he’s ever seen. Tarantino also praised the director, Todd Phillips, saying he made the movie like “The Joker himself” would have made it, taking risks and surprising everyone.

However, most critics didn’t like Joker: Folie à Deux. The movie didn’t do well at the box office, earning only $206 million worldwide, much less than the first Joker, which made $1 billion. Even one of the actors, comedian Tim Dillon, said the movie was “the worst film ever made” and that it had no real plot.
