North Korea and Russia active CSPT treaty

North Korea and Russia have officially activated the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty ( CSPT) agreement.

The treaty was activated following the exchange of agreement documents on December 4 in Moscow. The Korean news agency KCNA published a report regarding this.

According to KCNA, the agreement will serve as a strong driving force in establishing an independent and just multi-polar global order, free from hegemony, subordination, and domination.

The agreement was originally signed during a summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un during Putin’s visit to Pyongyang in June this year. It includes a mutual defense pact that ensures immediate military assistance for both parties if either faces an armed attack.

This agreement has come into effect amid North Korea’s increasing involvement in the Ukraine war, following efforts to enhance military cooperation during Putin’s Pyongyang visit. Reports indicate that more than 10,000 North Korean troops have already been deployed to assist Russia. Additionally, North Korea is alleged to have provided thousands of rounds of ammunition, mobile howitzers, and rocket launchers for Russian forces.

However, neither North Korea nor Russia has officially acknowledged the deployment of troops or the transfer of weapons.
