TikTok Joins Red Sea Film Festival as Sponsor

TikTok is now a sponsor of the Red Sea International Film Festival (RSIFF) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, which runs from December 5 to 14.

TikTok will sponsor a new short film competition. This gives filmmakers, fans, and industry people from around the world a chance to share their creative ideas. People can submit their original short films in vertical format, using the hashtags #RedSeaIFF24 and #TheNewHomeOfFilm.

Three finalists will be chosen, and the winner will be announced at the Red Sea Souk Awards on December 10.

TikTok will also offer activities at the festival, including live streaming the opening and closing ceremonies, sharing interviews with actors and filmmakers, and holding a workshop at the festival’s market, the Red Sea Souk.

TikTok has more than 1 billion users worldwide. The platform also recently launched TikTok Spotlight, which helps studios and the entertainment industry promote their films.

Samaher Mously, director of marketing at the Red Sea Film Foundation, said, “TikTok is the perfect partner to help us share films from Arab, African, and Asian filmmakers with audiences worldwide.”

Kinda Ibrahim, TikTok’s regional general manager, said, “This partnership reflects our dedication to supporting filmmakers by providing new ways to connect with audiences globally.”

The jury for the 2024 RSIFF competition will be led by filmmaker Spike Lee.
