Vin Diesel Teases ‘Fast X: Part 2’ Release Date and Dwayne Johnson’s Return

Being part of a huge $7.3 billion movie series like Fast & Furious comes with a lot of challenges. Just ask Vin Diesel about the next movie, Fast X: Part 2.

Vin Diesel posted on social media recently, giving hints about the release date, the return of Dwayne Johnson, and the plan for a two-part finale.

He wrote, “I got Universal in one ear saying we need Fast X: Part 2 by March 2026! I have Comcast in the other ear saying we need two movies for the finale! Then the writer from Fast Five sent me this image and said we need to see Dom and Hobbs resolve their differences. I just want to get back to real street racing, practical stunts… and a reunion of that beautiful brotherhood. Happy Thanksgiving…”

Universal has already hired Christina Hodson (from The Flash) and Oren Uziel (from Cloverfield) to write Fast X: Part 2, with Louis Leterrier, the director of Fast X, coming back to direct.

Right now, Universal does not have any event film scheduled for March 2026. They have a space on March 13, 2026, for an untitled Blumhouse The Exorcist movie. Many Fast & Furious movies have been released around Easter, which in 2026 is on April 5. Universal has also planned an untitled animation movie for that weekend.

Interestingly, this weekend Disney’s Moana 2 could possibly beat Dwayne Johnson’s box-office opening for Furious 7, which earned $147.1 million in its opening weekend. Furious 7 had the biggest opening for any Fast & Furious movie in the U.S. and Canada. Moana 2 is expected to be Johnson’s second-biggest opening, ahead of The Fate of the Furious, which earned $98.7 million.

Deadline reached out to Universal for a comment, and we will update you if the studio responds.

Fast X opened to $67 million in the U.S., earning $323.8 million worldwide, and eventually finished with $146.1 million in the U.S. and $704.8 million worldwide.
