Thanksgiving Day Celebrated Across the United States

Millions of Americans are celebrating Thanksgiving Day, a national holiday that brings families and friends together for a day of gratitude, feasting, and reflection.

Thanksgiving, observed on the fourth Thursday of November, has deep historical roots, tracing back to the 1621 harvest feast shared by the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Native Americans in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Over the years, it has evolved into a national tradition.

The holiday is marked by festive gatherings, where families share traditional dishes like roast turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie. In many cities, large-scale events such as the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City draw millions of spectators. This year’s parade featured giant balloons, marching bands, and performances from popular artists.

President Joe Biden delivered the traditional Thanksgiving address, emphasizing unity, gratitude, and the importance of helping those in need. Many communities organized charity drives, offering free meals to the homeless and low-income families.

As the day progresses, Americans will also prepare for the start of the holiday shopping season, with Black Friday sales kicking off tonight, promising significant discounts across the country.

Thanksgiving continues to be a symbol of togetherness and gratitude, reminding everyone to reflect on their blessings and extend kindness to others.
