Mark Zuckerberg Meets with Trump at Mar-a-Lago in Bid to Build Positive Relationship

PALM BEACH, Florida – Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg met with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on November 27 at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, in what marks an attempt by Zuckerberg to improve his strained relationship with the former president. The meeting, initiated by Zuckerberg, came after years of tension, particularly over allegations from Trump and conservatives that Meta’s social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram, have unfairly censored right-wing voices.

The encounter, confirmed by multiple sources, included pleasantries exchanged between the two men, with Zuckerberg congratulating Trump on his presidential victory. Following their meeting, the two were scheduled to have dinner at Mar-a-Lago.

Zuckerberg’s overtures to Trump reflect his efforts to build a rapport with the incoming administration, as Meta has faced increasing criticism from conservative lawmakers. Trump has been a vocal critic of Meta, even calling for Zuckerberg to be jailed over claims of election interference. However, as the 2024 election approaches, Zuckerberg has been working to mend fences with Trump, having made private calls to the president and expressing support after a recent assassination attempt on Trump.

Zuckerberg’s relationship with Trump is notably more distant compared to other tech executives like Elon Musk, who has been a strong supporter of Trump. Despite the rocky past, Zuckerberg’s meeting at Mar-a-Lago signals a new chapter as Meta seeks to engage more constructively with the incoming administration.
