90s Actor Omar Sani Considers Leaving Bangladesh Due to Deteriorating Situation

Omar Sani, a popular actor from Dhaka cinema in the 1990s, is now contemplating leaving Bangladesh due to the worsening situation in the country. The actor, known for his impactful roles in films during his peak years, recently expressed his concerns about the state of affairs in a video shared on social media.

Sani, who has also ventured into the restaurant business in recent years, explained that the ongoing political unrest and economic instability have made life increasingly difficult. He mentioned the toll it has taken on his business, especially his newly opened restaurant in Ashulia’s EPZ area, where unrest has been rampant.

In his video message, Sani revealed, “If I had known the situation would turn out like this, I wouldn’t have started this business. The whole environment is chaotic, with protests, violence, and instability everywhere. The situation in Dhaka, particularly, is frightening, and it’s difficult to run a business under such conditions.”

Adding to his concerns, Sani spoke about the rising cost of living and the economic challenges people are facing. He acknowledged that while he had previously spoken out about inflation, many had criticized him for not addressing it recently. He responded, saying, “I’ve always protested against rising prices, and I continue to do so in my own way, regardless of where I am.”

The actor also revealed that his wife, actress Moushumi, has been living in the United States for over a year, and there are rumors about her planning to settle there permanently. Sani hinted that his family has suggested he consider moving abroad as well. Reflecting on his connection to Bangladesh, he said, “I became Omar Sani because of this country. I’ve always held on to this land, but the current situation is making it harder to do so.”

Sani’s concerns about the political and economic instability in Bangladesh have left many wondering if he will follow his family’s suggestion and settle abroad.
