JAKARTA – At least 27 people have been killed and dozens more are missing after flash floods and landslides struck North Sumatra province in Indonesia. Rescuers are continuing to search for survivors, including passengers trapped in a minibus buried in mud, according to officials on November 28.
The region has been experiencing heavy rainfall since last week, leading to flash floods and landslides across four districts. In Deli Serdang, a landslide on November 27 killed seven people and left 20 others injured, said Hadi Wahyudi, spokesperson for the North Sumatra police. The disaster agency has confirmed the scale of destruction and is working to reach those still trapped under debris.
