Washington, July 1: Donald Trump has said ongoing discussions between the United States and Iran are progressing “very well,” while reaffirming that Tehran must not be allowed to possess nuclear weapons.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday at Joint Base Andrews near Washington, D.C., Trump described recent meetings with Iranian officials as productive and said the negotiations had already covered significant ground.
He noted that Iran had “come a long way” in the discussions but also referred to previous US military and economic pressure on Tehran, saying Washington had delivered “very strong blows” in recent weeks.
Trump reiterated his administration’s hardline position on Iran’s nuclear program, emphasizing that the issue of denuclearization was straightforward.
“The matter is very simple,” Trump said. “Iran cannot have nuclear weapons.”
The remarks come amid rising tensions in the Middle East and renewed international focus on Iran’s nuclear ambitions, as diplomatic efforts continue to prevent further escalation in the region.
