Iconic Game Show Host, Dies at 83

Chuck Woolery, the well-known host of game shows like “Wheel of Fortune” and “Love Connection,” has passed away at the age of 83.

His friend Mark Young shared the news on the social media site X, saying, “It is with a broken heart that I tell you that my dear brother @chuckwoolery has just passed away. Life will not be the same without him, RIP brother.”

TMZ confirmed the news, saying Woolery died in his home in Texas after having trouble breathing.

Woolery is best known for hosting “Love Connection” for over ten years. Fans remember his famous line before commercials: “We’ll be back in two and two.” In later years, he became a conservative talk show host. He hosted a radio show called “Save Us Chuck Woolery” and the podcast “Blunt Force Truth” with Young.

Before his career in politics, Woolery hosted “Wheel of Fortune” from 1975 to 1981 before Pat Sajak took over. He also hosted the game show “Scrabble,” the talk show “The Chuck Woolery Show,” and the daytime show “Home & Family” on the Family Channel. He was also known for hosting “The Dating Game,” the show “Greed,” and the Game Show Network’s “Lingo.” Woolery even made guest appearances as himself on TV shows like “227,” “Cold Feet,” and “Scrubs,” and starred in a reality show called “Chuck Woolery: Naturally Stoned.”

In 2007, Woolery was honored with an induction into the American TV Game Show Hall of Fame.

Before becoming a TV host, Woolery served in the U.S. Navy. He began his career in music with the group The Avante-Garde, which had a hit with the song “Naturally Stoned.” He also had a few solo songs on the country music charts.
