Trump Urges Immediate Talks Between Zelensky and Putin

Former President Calls for Diplomatic Intervention Amid Rising Tensions

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has called for an urgent meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin to address the escalating conflict between their nations. Trump issued the statement in response to reports of heightened hostilities, including Ukraine’s use of U.S.-supplied ATACMS missiles against Russian targets in Kursk.

“Ukraine has just launched 5 ballistic U.S. ATACMS missiles at Kursk, Russia. This must stop!” Trump said. He criticized current U.S. policy, claiming President Joe Biden and NATO are escalating tensions and risking a broader conflict. “Joe Biden and NATO are pushing the United States into WWIII,” he added.

Rising Tensions Amid Military Escalation

Reports indicate that Ukraine launched several ATACMS missiles, a powerful U.S.-supplied weapon, at Russian targets in the Kursk region. The strikes are the latest in a series of escalations in the nearly two-year-long conflict.

The use of advanced weaponry underscores the growing intensity of the war and has sparked renewed fears of a wider confrontation involving NATO. Russia has condemned the strikes, while Ukraine has remained defiant, citing its right to self-defense.

Calls for Diplomacy

Trump’s statement highlights his belief that direct negotiations under his mediation could lead to a resolution. During his presidency, Trump often emphasized personal diplomacy as a means of conflict resolution.

He did not elaborate on a specific plan for how he would facilitate a peace agreement but stressed the urgency of avoiding further escalation. His comments come as global leaders express concerns about the potential for the conflict to spiral out of control.

A Divided U.S. Policy

Trump’s criticism of Biden’s approach reflects a broader divide in American political circles over the handling of the Ukraine conflict. While Biden and NATO have consistently supported Ukraine with military aid and sanctions against Russia, some politicians argue that continued involvement risks dragging the U.S. into a larger war.

The White House has not yet commented on Trump’s remarks, but the Biden administration has reaffirmed its commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of Russian aggression.

As the situation intensifies, calls for diplomacy are likely to grow. Whether Trump’s proposed meeting will materialize or influence the conflict remains uncertain.
