Idris Elba is set to star in Masters of the Universe, a film directed by Travis Knight for Amazon MGM. Sources confirm that Elba will play the role of Duncan, also known as Man-At-Arms. The film is a co-production between Escape Artists and Mattel.
The cast includes Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, and Camila Mendes as Teela. Written by Chris Butler, the film is produced by Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Robbie Brenner, and Steve Tisch.
Elba is currently filming Kathryn Bigelow’s untitled White House thriller for Netflix and also voices Knuckles in Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
Duncan, a heroic character, has served as the weapons master and combat instructor to the royal family for centuries. Trained by Dekker, he’s a veteran of the Great Unrest and was tasked by King Randor to form the elite strike force known as The Masters of the Universe. Duncan and his adopted daughter, Teela, frequently patrol the borders of Eternia to watch for signs of evil.
