Trump will keep a close watch on Bangladesh: U.S. Muslim leader to Indian media

The second term of the newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump will begin on January 20 next year. Sajid Tarar, a Pakistani-American politician and the head of the organization “Muslims for Trump,” commented that the relationship between the United States and Bangladesh may become difficult during Trump’s new term. He shared these views in an interview with Indian media outlet PTI.

Sajid, a supporter of Donald Trump and an influential Pakistani-American businessman, said that after an unprecedented political comeback to become president for the second time in U.S. history, Trump would strengthen his relationship with India. At the same time, he would keep a close eye on the human rights violations allegations in Bangladesh.

Sajid Tarar mentioned that Trump is aware of the situation in South Asia, which includes Bangladesh. He noted that during the 2016 presidential elections, Bangladesh’s caretaker government’s chief advisor, Muhammad Yunus, openly supported Hillary Clinton. Recently, Yunus visited the U.S., where he met President Joe Biden and former President Bill Clinton.

The Trump supporter of Pakistani descent further stated, “There is a history here, as when Donald Trump was fighting against Hillary Clinton in the elections, he (Dr. Yunus) supported Hillary Clinton.” Earlier, just a few days before the U.S. election on November 5, Trump expressed concern over human rights violations against Hindus in Bangladesh through a statement on X (formerly Twitter).
