Over 10,000 North Korean Troops Reportedly Deployed to Ukraine War as Part of Russian Forces

South Korean Spy Agency Reveals North Korea’s Military and Arms Support for Russia in Ukraine Conflict.

Seoul – In a significant development, South Korea’s National Intelligence Service (NIS) reported that approximately 10,900 North Korean troops have been deployed to the Kursk region to support Russia’s airborne units and marines in the ongoing war in Ukraine. Some of these troops are already engaged in active combat, according to South Korean lawmaker Park Sun-won.

The revelation follows reports of North Korea also supplying additional weaponry to Russia, including self-propelled howitzers and multiple rocket launchers, to bolster Russian forces in Ukraine.

High-Level Meetings Between North Korea and Russia

The NIS disclosed that North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui held a protocol-breaking meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin during her recent visit to Moscow. This interaction, according to the spy agency, likely went beyond mere formalities, discussing critical issues such as a potential visit to Russia by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Casualties and Surrender Unclear

The NIS is working to verify reports of North Korean troop casualties and whether any soldiers have surrendered. Information remains conflicting at this time, Park said during a press briefing.

This deployment of North Korean forces marks an unprecedented escalation in military cooperation between Pyongyang and Moscow, signaling deeper ties amid Russia’s need for reinforcements in the Ukraine conflict. Observers warn that this partnership could complicate efforts to resolve the war and further destabilize international relations.
