Jeddah Airport Shutdown Disrupts Bangladesh Biman Flights, Leaving Passengers Stranded

- October 13, 2026, 05:13 PM ET

Flights from Jeddah to Dhaka operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines have been disrupted following a suspension of airport operations on security grounds, leaving passengers stranded at Jeddah airport in Saudi Arabia.

M A Sattar, sales manager of Biman Bangladesh Airlines stationed at Jeddah airport, confirmed the disruption on Sunday, October 11.

“Due to security concerns, we are unable to operate the flight. As a result, passengers bound for Dhaka are stranded. Boarding has not yet been possible because of the situation,” he said.

The airline’s country manager said uncertainty over flight operations would persist until security conditions at the airport returned to normal, adding to the inconvenience faced by passengers awaiting departure.

The disruption comes amid a series of attacks at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and security concerns linked to Houthi attacks in the region.

Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) reported that five flights were cancelled between Saturday and Sunday morning because of Houthi attacks. The affected flights involved Biman Bangladesh Airlines, US-Bangla Airlines, Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) and Riyadh Air.

The continuing disruptions have created uncertainty for passengers travelling between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia, with flight schedules dependent on the security situation and the resumption of normal airport operations.
