DHAKA — The Bangladesh government has raised the retail prices of four major petroleum products by Tk 20 per litre, according to a notification issued by the Energy and Mineral Resources Division on Sunday.
Under the revised rates, diesel will sell for Tk 135 per litre, kerosene for Tk 155, octane for Tk 165 and petrol for Tk 160.
The notification was signed by Md Enamul Haque, senior assistant secretary of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division.
The new prices represent an increase from the rates in effect earlier this month, when diesel was sold at Tk 115 per litre, kerosene at Tk 135, octane at Tk 145 and petrol at Tk 140.
The latest adjustment follows a major round of fuel-price revisions in April. At that time, diesel prices were raised by Tk 15 per litre, while the prices of octane, petrol and kerosene increased by Tk 20, Tk 19 and Tk 18 respectively.
Bangladesh has been reviewing retail fuel prices under an automatic pricing mechanism since 2024. The system takes into account international oil prices, import costs, taxes and duties, exchange rates and other related expenses when determining domestic prices.
The latest increase comes amid continued volatility in global energy markets, which can affect Bangladesh’s import costs and domestic fuel prices.
