Nuran Nabi elected 5th term council at Plainsboro, NJ

Nuran Nabi, an eminent scientist, author, and Bangladesh war hero, again elected to the Plainsboro Township Council for a fifth term in New Jersey. He is going to start a three-year tenure on January 1, 2025. Councilman Nabi praised the Plainsboro Township voters for their constant support. He is a Bangladesh American in New Jersey, USA, and is serving his fifth term as a councilman since 2007.  

He is not just an outstanding scientist who co-invented Colgate Total Toothpaste, but also a brave freedom warrior who fought valiantly for Bangladesh’s independence during the Liberation War in 1971. After 22 years with Colgate-Palmolive, he retired in 2006 before deciding to run for politics.

Mr. Nabi earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh and a Post Graduate Diploma from Osaka University in Japan. He then earned a Ph.D. in Cell Biology from Kyushu University in Japan before moving to New York University in the United States to pursue post-doctoral research in 1980.  In the early 1970s, he worked as a lecturer at the University of Dhaka and served as a member on the Senate.

Dr. Nabi is also a well-known author with over a hundred patents and articles.

Furthermore, the Far Eastern Economic Review, May 6th, 1972 issue, refers to Dr. Nabi as “the Brain” of the Tangail Freedom Fighters Forces.

He recently published a book called Bullets of ‘71- A Freedom Fighter’s Story on Bangladesh’s freedom struggle, liberation war, and genocide. Previously, he released two books: “Janmechi E Banglay” and “Amar Ekattur Amar Judha.”

In 2020, he earned Bangladesh’s second highest national award, the “Ekushey Padak” for His Outstanding Contribution in the Field of Language and Literature.
