Quentin Tarantino says he won’t watch Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune” movies, even though they’ve received great reviews. In a recent interview on “The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast,” Tarantino explained that he’s already seen the earlier version of “Dune” by David Lynch and doesn’t feel the need to see the story again.
“I don’t need to see spice worms or a movie that emphasizes ‘spice’ so dramatically,” Tarantino said, showing his lack of interest in Villeneuve’s take on the story. He feels there are too many remakes in Hollywood and prefers original stories instead.
Tarantino mentioned he has seen other adaptations like “Shōgun” and isn’t interested in revisiting those stories. He believes that if a new story were told, he would be more willing to check it out.
While many agree with Tarantino that Hollywood is filled with remakes, others think he might be missing out on something special by not watching Villeneuve’s “Dune.” The film has won praise from several big-name directors, including Steven Spielberg, who called it one of the most brilliant sci-fi films he has ever seen.
