“Moscow: BRICS Nations Committed to Advancing Democratic, Multipolar World Order, Says Putin at Kazan Summit”
“It is important that the declaration reaffirms our commitment to building a more democratic, inclusive, and multipolar world order, based on international law and the UN Charter,” Putin stated.
Putin also emphasized that BRICS remains open to all countries sharing its values, with members committed to joint solutions free from external pressure or narrow approaches, according to Xinhua news agency. He clarified that the bloc does not operate in a closed format and confirmed that BRICS leaders had agreed on a list of partner countries.
“Some countries that participated in these events have submitted proposals and requests for full-fledged participation in BRICS,” Putin noted.
While BRICS has not developed alternatives to SWIFT, Putin acknowledged the importance of the issue and said member countries are moving toward using national currencies in their transactions.
Putin also stated that BRICS members are now utilizing the financial messaging system developed by the Russian Central Bank. This system is being used as part of the bloc’s broader efforts to shift away from reliance on Western-dominated financial infrastructure, such as SWIFT, and toward greater use of national currencies in transactions between member countries.
