Inter and Barcelona Make Champions League History in Semifinal Thriller

Inter Milan and Barcelona delivered one of the most memorable semifinal clashes in UEFA Champions League history, marking a historic moment in the competition’s 70-year journey.

Following a thrilling 3–3 draw at Camp Nou, the second leg at San Siro ended in a 4–3 victory for Inter Milan. With a 7–6 aggregate win, the Italian side has secured their spot in the final, scheduled for June 1.

The two-legged semifinal produced a total of 13 goals — the joint-highest in Champions League semifinal history. The previous record was set in 2018 when Liverpool and AS Roma also shared 13 goals over two legs, with Liverpool advancing 7–6 on aggregate.

Inter’s explosive performance, particularly at home, has not only booked them a place in the final but also etched their name alongside Barcelona in the record books for the most goals scored in a Champions League semifinal.

This year’s final will be held at the Allianz Arena in Munich, where Inter will face either Arsenal or PSG. Historically, the venue has favored debut champions, which might pose a psychological challenge for Inter. Yet, after such a dominant display, relying solely on past trends to predict Inter’s fate may be premature.

The football world now turns its eyes to June 1 to see if Inter can complete their remarkable run with a European crown.
