US Reaffirms Support for PM Modi Amid Rising Tensions
Washington, D.C. – The United States has reiterated its unwavering support for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the wake of the recent Pahalgam terror attack. US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce stated that the Trump administration stands firmly with India against terrorism and remains in constant communication with both Indian and Pakistani authorities.
During a press briefing on Friday, Bruce emphasized that the US is closely monitoring the situation and engaging in high-level diplomatic discussions. She cited a conversation between US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, underscoring Washington’s commitment to regional stability.
“As President Donald Trump articulated to Prime Minister Modi last week, the United States stands strong with India against terrorism, and Prime Minister Modi has our full support,” Bruce stated. She further encouraged both nations to work toward a responsible resolution that ensures long-term peace in South Asia.
The statement comes amid heightened tensions following the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, where Pakistan-sponsored terrorists killed 26 people, mostly tourists. India has since taken decisive measures, including suspending the Indus Water Treaty and closing the Integrated Check Post at Attari.
The Indian Army has also responded to ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC), with intensified operations in Kupwara and Poonch districts. Meanwhile, security forces have ramped up anti-terror efforts across the Kashmir Valley.
The US administration continues to engage with both India and Pakistan, urging de-escalation while reaffirming its commitment to India’s fight against terrorism.
