Pakistan Expands Military Presence Along Indian Border, Inducts Chinese Howitzers

May 2, 2025 – Dhaka, Bangladesh
Pakistan has intensified its military buildup along the Indian border, deploying air defense and artillery units at forward locations. The latest development includes the induction of Chinese-made SH-15 howitzers into its artillery regiments, further escalating tensions between the two neighboring nations.
According to defense sources, Pakistan has stationed radar systems and air defense weaponry opposite the Longewala sector in Rajasthan. Additionally, the Pakistan Air Force is conducting multiple military exercises, including Fiza-e-Badr, Lalkar-e-Momin, and Zarb-e-Haidari, involving major fighter aircraft fleets such as the F-16, J-10, and JF-17. These exercises, which began on April 29, also feature participation from Saab airborne early warning and control systems aircraft.
The Pakistan Army Strike Corps is reportedly engaged in training exercises, while the Airport Security Force has been deployed to safeguard ground assets and air bases. The SH-15 howitzers, known for their mobility and precision, continue to be inducted into Pakistan’s military arsenal and are being positioned in forward locations.
This military buildup follows the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in 26 casualties. In response, India’s Cabinet Committee on Security convened on April 23 to discuss countermeasures, including the potential suspension of the Indus Water Treaty as a diplomatic response to Pakistan’s alleged support for cross-border terrorism.
With tensions escalating, both nations remain on high alert, raising concerns about regional stability. The international community continues to monitor the situation closely, urging restraint from both sides.
