Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated following a militant attack in Indian-administered Kashmir. Amid the rising hostilities, troops from both countries exchanged gunfire along the Line of Control (LoC) on Thursday night.
According to Indian media outlet NDTV, Pakistani forces opened fire on Indian army posts along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir. In response, the Indian army returned fire. No casualties have been reported so far.
The incident follows a deadly attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir, where 26 people, including a Nepali citizen, were killed. In the aftermath, both countries have taken a series of retaliatory measures, including suspending visas, expelling military officials, and closing the Wagah-Attari border post.
India also suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, to which Pakistan responded by halting all bilateral agreements and closing its airspace to Indian aircraft.
