Trump Reacts to Russian Strike on Kyiv: “Vladimir, Stop!”

At least 12 people have been killed and 90 others injured in a major Russian missile and drone attack on Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv—marking the largest assault of the year. According to British news agency Reuters, U.S. President Donald Trump responded to the attack by addressing Russian President Vladimir Putin directly, stating, “Vladimir, stop!”

The overnight strike caused widespread destruction in Kyiv, with multiple buildings reduced to rubble and fires breaking out across the city. Even 12 hours after the attack, rescue workers were still recovering bodies from the debris. Ukrainian officials reported that ringtones could still be heard from beneath the rubble.

Posting on his Truth Social account, Trump wrote: “I do not like Russia’s attack on Kyiv. It is unnecessary and comes at a very bad time. Vladimir, stop! Five thousand soldiers are dying each week. Let’s end this with a peace deal!”

Meanwhile, the White House has warned that if no progress is made soon, the U.S. may halt its peace efforts. Trump also expressed frustration with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who recently stated that Ukraine would not accept Russia’s occupation of Crimea.

Russia’s Ministry of Defense claimed it launched a widespread strike on Ukraine’s military-industrial complex. Rescue operations are ongoing at 13 locations in Kyiv, with fires reported at 40 sites across the city.
