‘The Bodyguard’ Remake Coming from Taylor Swift Tour Director

Warner Bros is officially bringing back one of the most iconic romantic thrillers of the 1990s — The Bodyguard. This time, the remake will be directed by Sam Wrench, the visionary behind Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, the record-breaking concert film.

Originally released in 1992, The Bodyguard starred Kevin Costner as Frank Farmer, a former Secret Service agent turned personal bodyguard, opposite music legend Whitney Houston, who portrayed Rachel Marron — a global R&B star facing threats from a dangerous stalker. The film became an international phenomenon, grossing over $411 million at the global box office and earning two Academy Award nominations for its unforgettable music.

The remake is set to be written by Jonathan A. Abrams, known for Juror No. 2, as reported by Deadline. While casting details remain under wraps, speculation is already swirling about who might step into Houston’s iconic role, especially given the original’s deep musical legacy and emotional resonance.

With Sam Wrench attached, expectations are high. Wrench’s work on Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour captivated millions, bringing in $261.7 million globally and becoming the highest-grossing concert film of all time. His involvement signals a possible emphasis on the film’s musical elements — a crucial aspect of the original’s enduring appeal.

The Bodyguard’s soundtrack, featuring timeless hits like “I Will Always Love You,” “Run to You,” and “I Have Nothing,” remains the best-selling movie soundtrack of all time, further fueling interest in the reboot.

As fans eagerly await casting announcements, this remake promises to blend nostalgic charm with a modern sensibility — and possibly introduce a new generation to the powerful love story and unforgettable music that made The Bodyguard a classic.
