Fresh off her Best Actress Oscar win for Anora, Mikey Madison has passed on a role in Shawn Levy’s upcoming Star Wars movie, Variety has learned.
Madison was reportedly in talks to join the untitled film, which will star Ryan Gosling and be directed by Deadpool & Wolverine filmmaker Shawn Levy. However, sources say discussions have ended, and the actress will not be joining the Galaxy Far, Far Away — at least for now.
The film, penned by Jonathan Tropper (The Adam Project), is being developed by Levy’s 21 Laps and Lucasfilm. It’s described as a standalone Star Wars story, unconnected to the Skywalker Saga.
Madison, 26, rose to fame in Better Things and Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood, but Anora marked her breakout, winning her the Oscar without a single audition — a shift she called “extremely difficult, but rewarding.”
The Star Wars project joins The Mandalorian & Grogu on Lucasfilm’s expanding slate, with that film slated for release on May 22, 2026. No release date has been announced yet for Levy’s film.
