U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff has outlined a firm “red line” for Iran, emphasizing that the country must not develop nuclear weapons under any circumstances.
Witkoff stressed the need for Iran’s nuclear program to be completely dismantled, while acknowledging that compromises may be necessary to reach a deal. Speaking to The Wall Street Journal, he stated, “I think our position begins with dismantlement of your program. That is our position today. That doesn’t mean, by the way, that at the margin we’re not going to find other ways to find compromise between the two countries.” He added, “As for our red line — there can’t be weaponization of your nuclear capability.”
