Trump Fires Six NSC Officials After Probe Involving Dr. Yunus’s Representative

Washington, April 6:
In a dramatic move, U.S. President Donald Trump has dismissed six officials from the National Security Council (NSC) following a meeting with far-right activist Laura Loomer in the Oval Office. The decision came after Loomer presented Trump with investigative reports accusing several officials of disloyalty and working against the administration’s interests.

According to The Guardian, Loomer alleged that the officials were involved in insubordination, internal resistance, and even political campaigning against Trump. Four officials were removed overnight, and two more over the weekend, signaling an unusual influence by Loomer over national security affairs—surpassing even that of National Security Advisor Mike Waltz.

Among the names in Loomer’s reports was Alex Wong, Waltz’s top advisor, who had recently engaged in official communication with Bangladesh. On April 3, Wong spoke via phone with Khalilur Rahman, a senior representative of Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus. The timing of this contact drew particular attention during Loomer’s Oval Office presentation.

Present at the meeting were Vice President J.D. Vance, Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and Waltz himself. Loomer directly appealed to Trump for the dismissal of specific NSC personnel, and the request was swiftly acted upon.

The dismissed officials include Brian Walsh, former Senior Director for Intelligence; Thomas Boudrie, Senior Director for Legislative Affairs; and Maggie Doherty, Senior Director for International Organizations. Walsh has since taken a role on the Senate Intelligence Committee under Senator Marco Rubio.

Some insiders called the firings unjustified, but one source noted that the White House had reviewed Loomer’s claims and found some corroboration—such as Trump-critical social media activity and ties to Republican figures he opposes, including the late Senator John McCain and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

It remains unclear if Mike Waltz faces any repercussions. He was seen traveling with Trump on Marine One, a sign of retained support, though critics argue he may have survived recent controversies only because Trump didn’t want to feed media backlash.

Loomer, one of Trump’s most vocal online supporters during the 2024 campaign, appears to have significantly reshaped the inner circle of the NSC. These developments are based on interviews with eight individuals familiar with the matter, all speaking on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the discussions.
