Trump Furious with Putin Over Ceasefire Negotiations

The war between Russia and Ukraine has been ongoing for over three years. Since taking office for his second term as President of the United States, Donald Trump has been actively working towards ending the conflict. However, despite weeks of efforts, no significant progress has been made in ceasefire talks.

Trump has expressed being “very angry” and “frustrated” with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the lack of progress in negotiations. In an interview with NBC News, Trump revealed his discontent, especially after Putin criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s leadership. Trump also threatened to impose a 50% tariff on countries purchasing Russian oil if Russia does not agree to a ceasefire.

Trump stated, “If Russia and I do not reach an agreement to stop the bloodshed in Ukraine, and if I believe it’s Russia’s fault—though it may not be—I will impose secondary tariffs on all Russian oil.”

This marks a shift in Trump’s tone toward Putin, indicating a serious threat against Russia if ceasefire talks are not pursued. Trump also emphasized his “good relationship” with Putin, stating that his anger would dissipate if Putin does the right thing.

These comments signal a growing frustration with the lack of diplomatic progress and suggest that the U.S. is becoming more assertive in pushing for action to end the war.
