Marvel Reveals ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Cast in Live-Stream of Chairs

In an unexpected move, Marvel Studios announced the star-studded cast for Avengers: Doomsday through a live-stream of… chairs. Yes, you read that right. The event, timed to mark the start of production, kicked off at 3 pm UK time with a chair bearing Chris Hemsworth’s name being placed into an empty hangar.

Every 12-15 minutes, a new chair was added, each one revealing a new cast member. The dramatic reveal was accompanied by Avengers music, sending fans into a frenzy. Among the names revealed were several X-Men stars, signaling a major reunion with Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and Rebecca Romijn all returning to the franchise.

Here’s the full cast list announced so far, with their likely current MCU characters:

Chris Hemsworth (Thor)

Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm/Invisible Woman)

Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson/Captain America)

Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes)

Letitia Wright (Shuri/Black Panther)

Paul Rudd (Scott Lang/Ant-Man)

Wyatt Russell (John Walker/US Agent)

Tenoch Huerta Mejía (Namor)

Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm/The Thing)

Simu Liu (Shang-Chi)

Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova)

Kelsey Grammer (Hank McCoy/Beast)

Lewis Pullman (Robert ‘Bob’ Reynolds/Sentry)

Danny Ramirez (Joaquin Torres/Falcon)

Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm/Human Torch)

David Harbour (Red Guardian)

Winston Duke (M’Baku)

Hannah John-Kamen (Ava Starr/Ghost)

Tom Hiddleston (Loki)

Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier/Professor X)

Ian McKellen (Erik Magnus Lehnsherr/Magneto)

Alan Cumming (Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler)

Rebecca Romijn (Raven Darkhölme/Mystique)

James Marsden (Scott Summers/Cyclops)

Channing Tatum (Remy LeBeau/Gambit)

Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic)

Robert Downey Jr. (Doctor Doom)

The live-stream continued until late evening, with fans joking about the marathon-length cast reveal. “If the cast of Doomsday is literally so big, this will run all day. That will literally be the funniest thing in the world,” one fan wrote on Reddit.

The film’s cast is immense, and we already knew Robert Downey Jr. would return to the MCU as the iconic villain Doctor Doom, following last year’s shocking Comic-Con announcement.

Directors Anthony and Joe Russo are also returning to helm the movie, with Joe Russo teasing a “very radical” story that challenges both audiences and the filmmakers themselves.

Avengers: Doomsday is slated for release next summer, following the upcoming MCU films Thunderbolts (May 1, 2025, UK) and The Fantastic Four: First Steps (July 25, 2025). Fans are eagerly awaiting the next chapter in the MCU, especially after the mixed reception of Captain America: Brave New World.
