Kremlin Confirms Upcoming US-Russia Talks Amid Ongoing Ukraine Conflict

The Kremlin announced on March 20 that the next round of US-Russia talks could occur on March 23 or early next week, coinciding with planned discussions between Washington and Kyiv in Saudi Arabia.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that the exact date is still under negotiation, suggesting the talks might begin at the start of the following week. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had earlier confirmed preparations for a meeting between Kyiv and the US in the “coming days” in Saudi Arabia.

It remains unclear whether US officials will meet with both Ukrainian and Russian delegations on the same day or if three-way talks involving Kyiv and Moscow are a possibility.

US National Security Adviser Mike Waltz revealed on March 19 that technical teams from Russia and the US are set to meet in Riyadh to discuss implementing and expanding the partial ceasefire brokered by US President Donald Trump. However, Russian President Vladimir Putin rejected a US-proposed unconditional ceasefire, agreeing only to a 30-day suspension of strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

The talks come amid ongoing tensions and efforts to address the conflict in Ukraine.
