“Commonwealth Women’s Day: 8 Inspirational Women Leading Global Change”


From saving lives under dire circumstances to breaking barriers in leadership, these eight exceptional women are making significant strides across the globe:

1. Safa Ali – A Lifesaver Amid Conflict in Sudan:
When violent clashes erupted near her hospital, Dr. Safa Ali, a consultant in obstetrics and gynecology, remained steadfast in her mission. Operating from Al-Saudi Maternity Hospital, the last functional medical facility in Al-Fasher, she performs critical surgeries and trains new doctors to combat the shortage of healthcare personnel in a war-torn region.

2. Anna – Leading Humanitarian Relief Efforts:
Awarded the Humanitarian Medal by HRH King Charles III, Anna has been at the forefront of emergency medical responses in Libya, Ukraine, and Turkey. Her team treated over 7,000 survivors of the 2023 Turkey earthquake, showcasing the power of rapid coordinated humanitarian action.

3. Paula – Healing in Crisis Zones:
Paula, a former member of the Royal Army Nursing Corps, has brought hope to areas like Gaza. She helped establish two emergency hospitals that have treated over 300,000 patients, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to aiding vulnerable communities.

4. Ivona Kostyna – Championing Veterans in Ukraine:

6. Dr. Khine Pwint Nwe – Innovating for Health Equity:
Founder of z-waka, a digital health platform, Dr. Khine enhances healthcare across Myanmar and neighboring countries. Her initiatives improve maternal health outcomes and ensure marginalized communities receive critical medical support.

7. Jane – Breaking Ice in Polar Leadership:
