Millie Bobby Brown Slams Media for Criticizing Her Appearance

Millie Bobby Brown has boldly addressed the negative attention surrounding her appearance during her press tour for The Electric State. In a passionate video shared on Instagram, the Stranger Things star called out both social media users and journalists who have targeted her for how she looks as she grows older.

In the video, Brown discussed how she has been in the public eye since she was just 10 years old, growing up in front of the world’s scrutiny. “For some reason people can’t seem to grow up with me,” she explained. “They act like I’m supposed to stay frozen in time, like I should still look the way I did on Stranger Things season one.”

The actress read out headlines from recent articles, including: “Why are Gen Zers like Millie Bobby Brown aging so badly?” and “What has Millie Bobby Brown done to her face?”. She strongly criticized the media’s focus on her physical appearance, declaring, “This isn’t journalism, this is bullying.”

Brown also highlighted the disturbing reality that some of the articles attacking her were written by women, stating, “We always talk about supporting and uplifting young women, but when it comes down to it, it seems a lot easier to just tear them down for clicks.”

She pointed out how society tends to focus on negativity rather than positivity, questioning why people are quick to criticize instead of offer compliments. “Why is it the knee jerk reaction to say something horrible rather than just say something nice?” she asked.

The actress closed her statement by emphasizing her refusal to apologize for growing up on her own terms, saying, “I refuse to apologize for growing up. I will not be shamed for how I look, how I dress, or how I present myself.”

Brown’s message serves as a powerful reminder of the impact media scrutiny can have on young women in the public eye and urges society to foster a more supportive environment.
