Popular Telugu actor and politician Posani Krishna Murali has been arrested by the Andhra Pradesh Police. He was taken into custody from his residence at 8:45 PM on Wednesday. This information was confirmed by India Today.
Murali has been charged with offenses under sections 196, 353(2), and 111 of the Indian Penal Code, along with Section 3(5) of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The arrest was made in connection with these charges, and he is currently in police custody.
The actor is accused of making derogatory comments about a particular community, which led to tensions between various groups.
Following his arrest, the police sent a notice to Murali’s wife, confirming the details of his arrest and stating that his offense is cognizable and non-bailable. He has been remanded to the first-class additional magistrate in Rajampet.
Before his arrest, Murali reportedly claimed to be unwell, but despite his condition, the police took him into custody after assisting him out of his home.
Murali is known for his roles in popular films like Crack, Temper, and Gemini. He has gained significant fame for his comic roles and has written stories for over 150 films. In addition to acting, he has also directed several movies.
