Pakistan Army’s Major Operation Near Border Kills 30 Militants

In a major operation conducted by the Pakistan Army, at least 30 militants were killed. The military launched the operation in a conflict-prone region near the Afghan border based on intelligence reports.

Pakistan’s security forces have reiterated their commitment to eliminating the threat of terrorism from the country, according to the nuclear-armed nation’s military. This information was reported by the Anadolu news agency on Tuesday (February 18).

According to the news agency, the Pakistan Army carried out a security operation near the Afghanistan border on Tuesday, killing at least 30 suspected militants. The military stated in a press release that an “intelligence-based operation” was conducted in the troubled South Waziristan tribal district bordering Afghanistan.

The statement further mentioned, “A clearance operation is being carried out to eliminate any remaining militants in the area. Pakistan’s security forces are determined to eradicate the threat of terrorism from the country.”

Background and Rising Security Concerns

In recent years, terrorist attacks in Pakistan have increased significantly. Islamabad has accused Afghanistan of not taking action against militants loyal to Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Pakistan claims these militants are operating from Afghan territory, an allegation that Kabul has consistently denied.
