Heavy Rain Forecast in Saudi Arabia, Risk of Flooding

Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Meteorology (NCM) has predicted heavy rainfall across various regions until February 20. The affected areas include the capital Riyadh, Hail, Al-Qassim, the Eastern Province, the southern border regions, as well as Makkah and Madinah.

There is a risk of flash floods in some areas due to the continuous downpour. Additionally, hailstorms are expected in the Makkah region, while strong winds could lead to dust storms in certain places.

The National Center for Meteorology has urged residents in the affected areas to follow safety advisories. Motorists in regions at risk of flash floods have been advised to drive with caution.

Earlier, in early January, Saudi Arabia experienced severe flooding after days of continuous heavy rainfall. During that time, the National Center for Meteorology had issued a red alert for the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah.

Several images and videos of the flooding went viral on social media, showing cars being swept away by strong currents and ground floors of buildings partially submerged.
