Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Hudhaifi Appointed as Chief Imam of Al-Masjid an-Nabawi

Saudi Arabia has appointed Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Hudhaifi as the Chief Imam of the holy Al-Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah. Meanwhile, Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Akbar has been appointed as the supervisor of the Qur’an recitation program at the mosque. This information was reported on Saturday (February 15) by the two holy mosques’ affairs website, Inside the Haramain, citing the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques.

Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Hudhaifi is a Saudi citizen, renowned for his melodious Qur’an recitation. He is also a member of the committee responsible for printing the Qur’an in Madinah.

Sheikh Abdul Rahman was born on May 22, 1947. He received his primary education in his village and memorized the Qur’an under the supervision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Hudhaifi.

Later, around 1975, he obtained a bachelor’s degree. He also earned a PhD from Egypt’s prestigious Al-Azhar University.

This well-known Islamic scholar had been serving as the Khatib (preacher) of Al-Masjid an-Nabawi. Additionally, he has led prayers at Masjid Quba, the first mosque built during the time of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He also has experience working as a lecturer in Islamic jurisprudence and Tawheed at the Islamic University of Madinah.
