The Witcher Returns on Netflix

The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, a new animated adventure, is now available on Netflix, bringing fans back to the world of Geralt of Rivia ahead of the much-anticipated fourth season of The Witcher.

This prequel film, based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s 1992 short story “A Little Sacrifice”, follows Geralt (voiced by Doug Cockle) as he is hired to investigate mysterious attacks in a coastal village. Joined by his trusted friend Essi Daven (voiced by Christina Wren), Geralt becomes embroiled in a centuries-old conflict between the villagers and sea monsters, tasked with negotiating peace between the two sides.

Cockle, who previously voiced Geralt in the The Witcher video game series, shared his excitement in a recent clip: “Very soon, Geralt’s gonna be back in action, battling not only men and monsters, but also merpeople. That’s right, he’s gonna cross swords with merpeople, of all things. Amazing stuff. It’s going to be so cool.”

The voice cast for the film includes Joey Batey, Anya Chalotra, and Emily Carey, with Kang Hei Chul directing the film from a screenplay by Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin. Chul previously worked on the 2021 film The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.

The release of Sirens of the Deep comes as production ramps up for the fourth season of the main The Witcher series, which will feature Liam Hemsworth replacing Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia for the final two seasons.

“I’m over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia,” said Hemsworth. “Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honoured that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure. Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m truly excited to be stepping into The Witcher world.”

Fans can look forward to more The Witcher adventures as both Sirens of the Deep and Season 4 bring new twists to the epic saga.
