Drew Barrymore Calls Adam Sandler Her Best On-Screen Kiss

In a heartfelt and playful moment on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Drew Barrymore shared her admiration for longtime friend and frequent co-star, Adam Sandler, calling him the best on-screen kiss she’s ever had.

The two Hollywood stars, who have been friends for years, have worked together in several iconic films, including 50 First Dates, The Wedding Singer, and Blended. When Cohen asked Barrymore about her best on-screen kiss, she immediately pointed to Sandler, despite their strong platonic bond.

“I mean, I love that Adam and I are so platonic,” Barrymore remarked. “We never dated, and his wife Jackie is one of my dear friends. But I love being in films with him because I think we’re representing something bigger than just hot sexual chemistry. We’re representing true admiration of another person.”

Cohen, who fondly recalled their romantic kiss in The Wedding Singer, responded with affection toward their on-screen chemistry. Barrymore agreed, acknowledging that the connection between them transcends traditional romantic entanglements, and that their real-life friendship is the heart of their collaborations.

Barrymore’s friendship with Sandler is not just for show. Their families are close, and the two have continued to celebrate their roles in 50 First Dates. In 2020, they recreated their iconic roles for a sketch on The Drew Barrymore Show, where Barrymore’s character, Lucy, with her amnesia, was reminded of the love story with Sandler’s character, Henry, in the present day.

The duo’s friendship remains a fan favorite, and recently, Barrymore teased a potential Happy Gilmore sequel after hearing from Sandler that the project is “in process.” This news sparked excitement among fans of the beloved 1996 comedy.

During the Watch What Happens Live segment, Barrymore also took a moment to reflect on other memorable career moments. She shared her admiration for E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial director Steven Spielberg, calling him her favorite director, and reminisced about meeting her first famous friend, Cameron Diaz, at a coffee house during their teenage years.

Barrymore and Sandler’s on-screen and off-screen friendship continues to be a shining example of platonic love, respect, and genuine admiration.
