Imran Khan Writes Another Open Letter to Pakistan’s Army Chief

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has written a second open letter to the country’s Army Chief, General Asim Munir. In the letter, he alleged that Pakistan’s “largest” political party is being deliberately targeted.

In the letter, Imran Khan stated, “I wrote an open letter to the Army Chief with sincere intentions for the betterment of the country and the nation, aiming to reduce the growing division between the military and the people. However, the response was extremely irresponsible and insignificant.”

The former Prime Minister emphasized that he is the leader of the “largest and most popular political party” in the country and has dedicated his life to securing international recognition for Pakistan.

He further wrote, “I have been engaged in public service for 55 years since 1970, and my earnings over the past 30 years are entirely transparent. My life and death are solely connected to Pakistan.”

At the same time, Imran Khan expressed concerns over the potential consequences of the growing distance between the Pakistani military and the people. Referring to his first letter, he stated that if the public’s opinion had been taken into account, 90% of people would have supported his proposed six-point agenda.

PTI has alleged that intelligence agencies manipulated election results to install a puppet government, forced the 26th constitutional amendment through Parliament to control the judiciary, suppressed freedom of expression through strict laws, destabilized the economy through political unrest, suppressed the country’s largest political party through state terrorism, and misused state institutions for political vendettas. These actions, PTI claims, are not only damaging public sentiment but also widening the divide between the military and the general population.

Imran Khan, who is imprisoned in Adiala Jail, stated that the military is a crucial institution for the country, but some “black sheep” are tarnishing its reputation.

Previously, in his first letter, Imran Khan urged the Army Chief to reconsider various policies and called for the formation of a judicial commission.

Imran Khan’s lawyer, Faisal Chaudhry, mentioned that the six-point letter discussed “fraudulent elections,” the promotion of money launderers, the 26th constitutional amendment, and the verdict in the Al-Qadir Trust case.

However, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan clarified that this letter does not indicate any change in PTI’s policies. Instead, Imran Khan wrote it in his capacity as a former Prime Minister.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s political adviser, Rana Sanaullah, commented that the purpose of Imran Khan’s letter was to create division between the military and the public or to cause misunderstandings within the army leadership. Challenging Imran Khan, he stated that political struggles should be conducted through Parliament.
