Molly Gordon, known for The Bear and Theater Camp, is set to direct, co-write, and star in Peaked, an upcoming comedy from A24. The film follows “the two girls who traumatized you in high school as they try to relive their glory days at their 10-year reunion.”
Gordon is co-writing the screenplay with Allie Levitan, a newly hired writer for Saturday Night Live. A24 will finance and produce the project, with David Hinojosa and Zach Nutman of 2AM joining Gordon as producers. Levitan will serve as executive producer, and Topic Studios will co-finance the film. Production is set to begin this year.
This marks another major collaboration between Gordon and Levitan, who are also working on Small Parts for Searchlight Pictures, a modern take on the 1987 comedy Outrageous Fortune.
Gordon, who previously co-wrote and co-directed the Sundance hit Theater Camp, has built a strong filmography, including Booksmart, Shiva Baby, You People, and the upcoming Oh, Hi!. Meanwhile, Levitan, daughter of Modern Family creator Steven Levitan, has written for Our Cartoon President and FX’s upcoming series Adults.
With Peaked, Gordon continues to solidify her status as a rising filmmaker in Hollywood.
